When To Call A Towing Service And Not Drive Yourself?
No one likes to bear extra expenses for nothing. Why would you want to call a towing service when you can push yourself or your vehicle a bit and drive to your desired destination? Or maybe the nearest garage is just a few miles away, and you don’t think it’s a big deal to drive up to there even if your car isn’t in the right enough shape to drive. You have to accept that sometimes you may be wrong – so wrong to end up damaging your car so much that you pay huge bills.
So, when should you call a towing service instead of driving your car to a huge loss?
1. When you’ve got a flat tire: Driving your vehicle with a flat tire can cause damage to the wheel. It takes pennies to fix a flat tire but if you end up damaging the wheel, you can face an expenditure of up to few hundred dollars. That’s a lot for a flat tire. Isn’t it?
2. When the car’s engine is overheated: If the problem with your vehicle is an overheated engine, you should not drive it at all. In fact, chances are it will not even start. But if it does, don’t push it. Rather call a towing service and take it to the nearest service station. Driving with an overheated engine will cause extensive damage to the engine (which you know is almost always very costly to repair).
3. When you’re stuck in mud or sand: Spinning the wheels of your car never helps. It makes the vehicle sink deeper into the mess. Most of the times people ask passersby to help push the car to get it out of the mud or sand but if you’re in a place where you can find no such help, call a towing service instead of making futile attempts of driving out of it.
4. When there are mechanical problems like failed transmission or dead battery: If you know the problem is something like a dead battery, you better take your car to the service station. You won’t be able to fix it on the road. Calling a tow truck is obvious.
5. When you meet with an accident: A minor bump can be ignored, but if there was a collision, you should take your car to the service station immediately. The car maybe working okay but due to the damage caused by the accident, serious problems may arise out of it. Get it checked and then drive.
6. When you’re drunk: Sometimes you lose control and drink too much. You know you shouldn’t be driving, but there’s no other way to take your car back home. There’s one – hiring an emergency towing service in Holland.
